Thursday May 28th    Battlefields in and around Gettysburg, PA

  • Breakfast at Lincoln Diner
  • Gettysburg Railroad Depot
  • 9:30 Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Tour (Ron)
  • 10 David Wills House Tour, Lincoln Square
  • 11:30 Battlefield Tour with MUHS ’90 Alum Professor Christopher Hamner (George Mason University)
  • 6:00 Dinner: General Pickett’s Buffet

Sleep: Gettysburg, PA – Camp on National Battlefield/Sem. Ridge

Friday 29th                        Lincoln: Baltimore, MD (Early Depart.)

  • 10:15 President Street Station Civil War Museum, Baltimore
  • Lunch: Catered Lunch at Surratt House
  • 1:00 (approx.) Surratt House Museum, Clinton, MD
  • Swim?

Sleep: Camp at Point Lookout Civil War Prison State Park, MD

Saturday 30                       Catholic Colony & Slaves: St. Mary’s City, Maryland

  • 10 am St. Mary’s Catholic Colony Archaeology Tour
    • Point Lookout Confederate Prison Camp Site & Museum
    • Freetime/Swim in Potomac River?
    • 5:00 Mass @ St. Thomas Manor, St. Ignatius Church, w/ Fr. Thomas Clifford, S.J.,
    • Dinner & Jesuit Plantation/Slave Cabin Tour

Sleep: The Barn at the Potomac Jesuit Retreat House, MD

(Located on the site John Wilkes Booth escaped across                                                                                           Potomac River to Virginia).

Sunday 31  Overland Campaigns, VA (All stops include scheduled Park Guides)

Wednesday 3rd             Richmond: The Confederate Capital Top to Bottom

  • Lincoln Walking Tour (Compare to Baltimore)
  • Lunch Break
  • 1:00 – Petersburg Battlefield: Fort Stedman & The Crater w/ Historian Scott Williams
  • 5:00 Elegba Folklore Society Slavery Torchlight Tour & Dinner, Shockoe Bottom Slave Trading District, Richmond

Sleep: 1611 village/interpretive area, Henricus State Historic                                                                           Park, Chester, VA (Showers at Pocahontas State Park).

Thursday 4th                   Appomattox to Civil Rights

  • 6 am departure from Henricus
  • Turn Van radio to AM 1610 for Lee’s Retreat Info.
  • 7:30 am High Bridge State Park/River Road Parking Lot three miles off N. Main St. in Farmville, near trail milepost 146* (4) Mile Hiking Tour w/ Bob Flippen                                           (Wear comfortable shoes & bring water, snacks)
  • Appomattox Court House 150th Commemoration
  • International Civil Rights Center &Museum, Greensboro
  • Meet w/ Prof. Mark Elliott on UNCG Campus
  • Dinner at University Cafe
